INTIMACY
EMBODIMENT
CREATIVITY
Your body is a magical instrument, finely tuned to your inner and outer worlds.
You contain untold depths.
You are wise.
You are beautiful.
You matter.
“We who were this planet and yearned for touch”
~ Joy Harjo
EMBODIED WISDOM
Our bodies are vast fields of intelligent awareness.
They are in constant dialogue. Forever attuned to the outside world, every smell, every voice, every shape. And forever attentive to our internal world, our emotions, our memories and our dreams.
History has distanced us from this foundational wisdom.
Our bodies are calling us back.
Our aches, pains, yearnings, anxieties, irritations and gut wrenching desires are all deeply held intelligence asking to be heard.
Asking us to slow down, to release guilt, to be tender, to create, to dance with wild abandon, to forgive. Asking for care, pleasure and honesty.
My practice supports you into relationship with your embodied intelligence.
This is a relational practice.
Working with your body invites you into relationship with your appetites, your desires, your thoughts, your emotions.
It invites you into renewed intimacy with the people you share your life with. And into intimacy with the earth, the elements and your place in the dance of life.
This is a liberation practice.
It does not free you from suffering, but from living behind a performance. Life does not become easy. You do not become simple, intelligible. But the masks drop. You become more honest. Full. Loving.
You no longer have to fear your own complexity.
You can listen to it instead. You develop a capacity for uncertainty that allows your world to take shape around truths rather than illusions.
This is a path of pleasure, vitality and meaning.
My name is Philomena.
I am a writer, practitioner and educator in the fields of embodiment and tantra.
My work is an offering to creativity and love.
I am moved by questions of relationship, knowledge, intimacy, and possibility.
I am interested in all the ways that the world speaks to us. And in all the ways we can listen.
I am curious about the movement of power. How power is taken away and how it is reclaimed. What a healthy relationship with power looks like.
My practice holds eros at its core.
The dynamic energy at the heart of life that sparks movement, connection and creation. That drives life forms to move together in wild and wonderful ways and create.
Out of two beings emerges a third. Out of nothing, something. The simplest miracle there is.
I believe that living in right relationship with our erotic energy is essential to our ability to thrive.
I am interested in how we release taboo and rewild our worldview so that our relationship with our bodies, our desires and our senses can become something profound, sacred, transcendent. And also something earthbound, animal and utterly ordinary.
I create devotional spaces of connection, awareness, expression and release.
Spaces that tend to vitality, wholeness, healing, love and relationship.
All of my work is driven by the desire for people to know that they matter, that they can feel pleasure, and that they can be treated well. That these are not naive desires but brave truths.
“Let us adore the body unequivocal sanctuary of the verb and of being”
~ Gioconda Belli
CULTIVATING EROTIC PRESENCE
Your eyes sparkle as they catch sight of a plate overflowing with ripe fruit. Your hands reach towards the fruit, fingers taught. A violent urge overcomes you to sink your teeth into this fruit and consume it. Your mouth sends waves of pleasure to your body as you eat. Your skin bristles with magic as you lick the juice dripping down your hands. Your body sparks into action to turn this flesh into something that keeps you alive.
This, is eros.
Erotic presence is the capacity to remain in contact with the moving flow of energy inside you. Your animating force.
This animating force lives in the movement towards a lover, and in the movement towards a blank page. In the desire to touch and be touched. In fascination, repulsion and awe. The instinct to destroy. The sudden and irresistible impulse to dance. Your hands reaching towards a plate of fresh fruit. The vivid sense of an idea taking shape.
Cultivating erotic presence means developing your capacity for this contact.
Noticing what moves and staying close enough to discover where it wants to take you.
Channelling this intelligence in ways that serve you.
“Your skin an hour ago did not end
Where it joined mine”
