INTIMACY.
EMBODIMENT.
CREATIVITY
What if I told you that you are infinitely wise. That your body is a magical instrument, finely tuned to your inner and outer worlds. That you contain untold depths inside you. That you are beautiful. That you matter.
Where do those words land inside your body?
How do they make you feel?
Our bodies are vast fields of intelligent awareness that are in constant dialogue with the movement of life, both inside and outside of ourselves.
Our bodies are attuned to the flow of sensory input from the outside world and all of the energy alive inside us. From our nervous system to our organs via the rivers of our emotions, memories and dreams.
History has distanced us from this foundational wisdom. Our bodies are calling us back. Our aches, pains, yearnings, anxieties, irritations and gut wrenching desires all deeply held intelligence asking to be heard.
Asking us to slow down, to move with wild abandon, to release guilt, to release a relationship pattern, to forgive. Asking for more play, for more pleasure, for more honesty.
Something of the truth of ourselves that has become lost in the social performance.
My work supports you into relationship with your embodied intelligence.
This is relational work - coming into relationship with your appetites, your desires, your thoughts, your emotions. And those of the people around you. Coming into relationship with the earth, the elements, and your place in it all.
This is liberation work. It does not free you from suffering, but from living behind a false self. Life does not become easy. But you become more honest. Full. Loving. The world begins to take shape around truths rather than illusions. Which might be the closest thing to freedom.
“We who were this planet and yearned for touch”
~ Joy Harjo
My name is Philomena. I am a practitioner, writer and educator in the fields of tantra and embodiment.
My work is a living inquiry into creativity and relationship. I am moved by questions of love, knowledge, poetry, intimacy, power, possibility and change.
I am forever curious about what drives us into action, what lives behind our fears, what draws us to each other, what sparks our imagination, what turns us on, what ignites violence in us.
I am interested in all the ways that the world speaks to us. And in all the ways we have forgotten to listen.
I am curious about the movement of power. How power is taken away and how it is reclaimed. What a healthy relationship with power looks like.
My practice holds eros at its core. The dynamic energy at the heart of existence that sparks movement, connection and creation.
The dynamic energy that drives life forms at all levels of reality to move together in wild and wonderful ways and create a new entity. Out of two entities emerges a third. Life is born. Out of nothing, something. The simplest miracle there is.
I believe that living in right relationship with our erotic energy is essential to our ability to create and thrive, both as individuals and as communities.
I am interested in how we release taboo and rewild our worldview so that our relationship with our bodies, our desires and our senses can become something profound, sacred, transcendent and completely ordinary.
I create devotional spaces of release, connection, attention and creativity. Spaces that tend to vitality, love and relationship.
All of my work is driven by the desire for people to know that they matter, that they can feel pleasure, and that they can be treated well. That these are not naive desires but brave truths.
“Let us adore the body unequivocal sanctuary of the verb and of being”
~ Gioconda Belli
CULTIVATING EROTIC PRESENCE
Erotic presence is the capacity to remain in contact with the moving flow of energy inside you. Your animating force.
This animating force lives in the movement towards a lover, and in the movement towards a blank page. In the desire to touch and be touched. In fascination and awe. The sudden and irresistible impulse to dance. Your hands as you reach towards a plate of fresh fruit. The vivid sense of an idea taking shape.
Cultivating erotic presence means developing your capacity for this contact.
Noticing what moves and staying close enough to discover where it wants to take you.
“Your skin an hour ago did not end
Where it joined mine”
